For the past 5 years, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum has held an event called “A December to Remember”, inviting cultural groups and faiths to showcase their December customs using trees, exhibit space, performances and workshops.
The Museum strives to instill an understanding and appreciation of the world’s wildlife, ecosystems and cultures through its interactive exhibits and educational programs.
This year, The Temple of Goddess Spirituality, dedicated to Sekhmet, was invited to participate in this event, focusing on our December ritual, Winter Solstice.
We were given a tree to decorate and a lovely large display case located next to it. Our solstice tree has been decorated with birds, bells, stars, acorns, cinnamon sticks, apples and snow flakes, topped off with a large smiling sun.
In the display case are featured: Yule Log, Wassail, Incense, Candles, how they tie into Solstice, as well as a Yule Tide Blessing and Legend of Holda generously provided by Selena Fox of Circle Sanctuary.
The Museum is located at: 900 Las Vegas Blvd. North in Las Vegas. The December to Remember exhibit is open from November 26th through the end of the year. I hope you and your family will have an opportunity to visit the Museum during this lovely and informative event.
